Narayana Hospital, Howrah Hosts ‘Jagoroni' – A Celebration of Women’s Strength & Health Awareness
Howrah, September 22, 2025: Narayana Hospital, Howrah, organised a special women-centric program titled ‘Jagoroni – Celebrating the Strength & Power Within You’, bringing together doctors, healthcare professionals, and women from different walks of life to create
awareness around women’s health and wellness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and featured insightful sessions, interactive discussions, and engaging activities that highlighted critical aspects of women’s health, especially in the areas of gynaecology, oncology, breast health, and preventive care.
The program began with an introduction by Dr. Subhas Mukherjee, Senior Consultant – Gynaecology & Obstetrics, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony and an inaugural song performed by the nursing team. The Health Awareness sessions covered a wide range of topics, starting with a session on screening for gynaecological cancer by Dr. Monidipa Mondal, Consultant – Radiation Oncology. This was followed by a presentation on the role of the Nightingales in screening patient care by Ms. Baisakhi Chattaraj, Nursing Superintendent. Dr. Rajni Bagai, Senior Consultant – Gynaecology & Obstetrics, spoke on postmenopausal health and awareness, while Dr. Meenulochani Annadurai, Consultant – Breast Oncology & Oncoplastic Surgery, addressed the importance of going “beyond the lump” in breast health. Dr. Poulomi Mitra, Consultant – Radiology, discussed routine imaging as a preventive measure against gynaecological cancers.
A panel discussion on common gynaecological problems saw participation from eminent experts, including Dr. Anish Dasgupta, Dr. Mainak Maiti, Dr. Lopamudra Ghosh, Dr. Suchetona Ghosh Roy Chowdhury, Dr. Amit Sharma, and Dr. Dipanjan Majumdar. The session was moderated by Dr. Rajni Bagai and Dr. Subhas Mukherjee, and generated meaningful conversations around challenges and solutions in women’s healthcare.
Delivering an inspiring talk, Dr. Kaustav Basu, Clinical Lead and Senior Consultant – Gynecologic Oncology, emphasised that cancer is not the end of life, stressing the importance of early detection, modern treatment options, and the need for mental resilience in patients and their families. The event concluded with a thanksgiving and felicitation ceremony by Dr. Joydeep Bhattacharya, Senior Medical Superintendent.

In addition to the scientific sessions, the day also featured engaging activities such as games, quizzes, and interactive myth-busting exercises around women’s health, making the program both informative and enjoyable for participants. Hospital representatives noted that Jagoroni will continue to serve as a platform to celebrate women’s resilience while spreading awareness on health issues that are often left unaddressed due to stigma or lack of information.
